Job Purpose

To provide a responsive, pro-active, proficient and efficient personal relationship banking service to a portfolio of Gold customers in order to grow the portfolio and retain the existing book.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Sales and market share growth

Plans, initiates and drives sales activities in light of portfolio revenue vs cost.

Attracts new business by identifying quality Gold customers and their potential value to the business.

Address the borrowing needs of the Gold portfolio.

Manage and own the relationship of Gold customers’ portfolio.

Recommending appropriate action to protect/grow the business.

Be able to identify potential new business opportunities and consistently generate innovative ideas for implementing new business opportunities.

Pass on leads to other business segments.

Customer Service

Consistently deliver good customer experience to all customers, both internal and external.

Proactively inform customers of potential problems before they arise.

Broadening scope with top customers in the portfolio to ensure family is entrenched with Stanbic Bank.

Be seen as influential and diplomatic in all dealings with customers.

Informing and educating clients about the bank and the bank products (raising the client’s awareness of the most appropriate products and services).

Cross-selling and increasing customer portfolios.

Credit/Risk Management
Managing credit and operational risk of the Gold customers’ portfolio.

Understanding the risk management principles and procedures relevant to the role and applying  these consistently and effectively.

Identify areas of concern/potential fraud and develop appropriate remedial processes/systems, which encompass both the operational and financial aspects of risk management.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

Knowledge & Qualifications

Tertiary qualification/s.
Product knowledge.
Understanding of equivalent competitor products and services.
Working knowledge of branch IT systems and how they impact on customer experience.
Working knowledge of Stanbic strategy & executive banking proposition.
Selling skills.
Financial management skills.
Understanding of investment options.
Risk assessment experience, i.e. loan applications.
Understanding of both business & personal banking.
 
Experience

Business experience and acumen.
At least two years experience of front-line banking.
Product knowledge (general as well as investment-related; can determine product combination possibilities; understanding of pricing so as to be able to determine profitability) and also, an understanding of when specialist support is needed.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

Be proactive in forward thinking (identifying potential difficulties as well as generating workable and profitable solutions that benefit both the customer and the bank).
Understanding of policies, principles and specific Packaged Solution objectives is essential.
Play an important part in the process of formulating solutions.
Have a creative flair in dealing with financial scenarios not encountered before.
Ensure a thorough follow through regarding the tasks started.
Have the ability to apply principles of financial planning, credit and risk management.
Formulate an action plan to bring about the realization of goals and targets for retention and growth of the portfolio, in line with the value proposition and the business plan.
 

Be aware of the longer-term impact of plans.
Analyze customers’ financial behaviour and accounts to match their needs with products that will result in greater benefit for the customer and increased revenue for the bank.
Is analytical in approach – weighing up longer-term benefits/risks.
