The Resolution Insurance brand is energetic and trendy. In pursuit of our ambitious growth plan, we are looking to fill the below position in our Finance Department.
The Management Accountant’s overall purpose is to prepare, develop and analyse key financial information to ensure effective administration of accounting systems. The position reports to the Finance Manager.
The jobholder is expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organization’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives.
Key Responsibility Areas:
• Timely facilitation of queries on payment issues to ensure MSP’s expectations are met satisfactorily
• Ensure accurate and timely update and reconciliation of all related accounting entries
• Preparation of timely reports for analysis and decision making i.e. audit schedules, TIRA report
• Ensure adequate risk management and internal controls procedures within the role assigned
• Ensure up-to-date documentation of processes supporting the role assigned
• Ensure proper receipting invoicing and banking of business within the stipulated timelines
• Ensure proper maintenance and filing of all departmental records
• Ensure statutory compliance standards and timelines are met
• Set up and manage procurement processes as per company policy
• Monitor RI investments and provide accurate reporting on the same
• Follow up for overdue accounts with the use of debt collectors and terminate defaulters after 60 days non payment
• Maintaining credit balances for all funds and ensure timely demands for fund top-ups
Specific Deliverables:
Payables
• Ensure timely & accurate payments to all claims as per due dates
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of commission and payroll
• Ensure payment of statutory deduction and taxes by the due dates
• Ensure timely payment of sundry suppliers
• Resolve all conflicts or issues raised both external and internal customers during the day to day activities
• Provide analysed reports of the financial activities and transactions in the department
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
Receivables
• Account for all premiums received in form of transfers, cash, deposit slips, Mpesa payments and cheques
• Confirm all transfers, deposit slips, cash, Mpesa payments received in accounts Custodian and issuer of all receipts, receipts books, and issued cheques
• Proper and timely recording of all clients bounced cheques and replacements and authorize the suspension and reinstatement of clients’ cover in relation to bounced or replaced cheques
Management Accounting
• Timely preparation of financial statements including profit & loss, cash flows, variance analysis
• Maintain the general ledger. ensure schedules are ready for internal & statutory audits and coordination of audits
• Preparation of monthly Bank reconciliation for all accounts and report on findings
• Preparation of cash flows and cash projections to ensure adequate cash to meet payment obligations.
• Review and report on financial compliance status with regulatory and other agencies
• Support special cost studies as required
• Support treasury management and prepare a daily cash flow report and organize for bank transfers to payments account and monitor bank balances
• Contact person to TIRA on financial reporting and regulatory requirements
• Assist in compilation of budget
Knowledge & Experience Required
Essential
• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA (T) certification
• 4 - 6 years’ relevant work experience. Experience in the use of accounting software and Excellent
computer skills.
Desirable
• Experience in an audit firm. & General Insurance.
• High proficiency in the use of MS Office especially Excel.
• Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision.
• Proven technical accounting skills, Good Inter-personal skills, and a team player
• Trustworthy and proven integrity
